Real Madrid legend Jorge Valdano has given his verdict on resurgent Gareth Bale following the brilliant show in the 3-1 win against Celta Vigo in their La Liga opener on Saturday at the Balaidos Stadium.

Valdano was highly impressed with Bale’s performance, the Real Madrid attacker created an assist for Los Blancos opener and he was also fantastic in tracking back to help the porous defense of the team.

The former general manager also admits he was surprised to see Bale in the starting line-up.

"I was surprised by the line-up as the usual ones played although it looked like a different team," said Valdano.

On Bale, he added, “He will never be a leader, but a decisive player.

"If he avoids injuries, there is no reason to think otherwise."

Up next for Real Madrid is the clash against Real Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabeu, Zinedine Zidane is expected to make some changes to the starting lineup that played against Celta Vigo as he may want to give James Rodrigues some playing time.
