Real Madrid is set to sign an ideal replacement for Sergio Ramos as they are prepared to make an offer for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to report.

Ramos is getting to the end of his career and Real Madrid directors are aware of the fact that they have to sign a defender of his calibre as his replacement if they are to avoid some defenses lapses life after the team captain.

Koulibaly, 28, is one of Real Madrid’s main targets and the Senegalese defender is one of the best defenders in his role for the past seasons and he is been sought-after by European elite teams as the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Manchester City are keen on signing him in the past seasons.

However, it seems Real Madrid are at the front of the queue with reports in Spain, via Italian outlet Calciomercato, claiming they see him as a long-term replacement for the 33-year-old Ramos whose contract expires in the summer of 2021.

Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis has said before that he wouldn't sell for anything less than £90million, meaning Real Madrid would have to spend big to win the race to sign the centre defender.

Manchester City is willing to sign him as a replacement for Vincent Kompany who left the Etihad at the end of last season.
