Real Madrid shift focus on Chelsea star after Mbappe snub

Real Madrid has shifted their focus to Chelsea star Eden Hazard after Kylian Mbappe's decision to stay with Monaco for another season.

The Los Blancos wants a galactico signing this summer and with just three weeks remaining in the transfer period, the Spanish giants want to pull all strings to make their dream a reality.

The European Champions are now back on Hazard’s pursuit, a case which looked to have been buried as the Los Blancos had focused on the signing of the Monaco forward since the beginning of the summer.

Real Madrid's attention was diverted largely from the Chelsea forward because of the injury he sustained after the season during an international assignment with Belgium.

The forward sustained an ankle injury that will likely rule him out for the start of the season.

Hazard was back to his brilliant best last season as Antonio Conte led Chelsea to the title with an emphatic display. Conte will be hoping the Belgian is on top form again during the coming campaign once he returns from an ankle injury.

Chelsea may have to go without Hazard though, and with La Liga giants Real Madrid apparently lining him up for a move to Spain.

McGarry told the Daily Record: "The Madrid President Florentino Perez promised the fans he would deliver them another galactico.

"That galactico was Kylian Mbappe. He has turned his back on Real Madrid, Los Blancos will now turn to their second target and that is Eden Hazard.

"They have admired him a long time. He has always imagined himself in the white kit of Real Madrid.

"That will have a very interesting effect on Chelsea who has not spent anywhere near their rivals. Conte will be incredibly disappointed, to say the least."

He had been tipped to arrive at the Bernabeu in a deal worth more than £100m this summer, which could have forced Gareth Bale out of Real Madrid.
