The report in the AS says that Kovacic has given the ‘green light’ for the move, Real Madrid gave Chelsea just a week to decide if they want the midfielder or not.
Inter Milan is also credited for their interest in Kovacic, as manager Antonio Conte is keen on bringing him back to his former club.
Kovacic has instructed his representative to sanction a deal to see him join Chelsea on a permanent basis, despite an impending two-window transfer ban, the Blues have the option of signing Kovacic as he’s already a registered player at the club.
Real would want around £45million for Kovacic, who was a regular under Sarri, making 51 appearances in total for the Blues.
For this part, Chelsea is yet to confirm a new manager since the departure of Sarri, though Frank Lampard is tipped to replace the former Napoli manager at the Stamford Bridge dugout.
