Real Madrid star Luka Modric won another award despite a poor 2018/19 season.

Modric has crowned the best Croatian player of the year, making it the seventh time in a row.

The midfielder and his fellow Real Madrid teammates suffered a dip in form last season but he promised to bounce back next season.

"At Real Madrid, we have the challenge of returning to old ways, of getting back to being the best," he said.

"The same could be said about the national team."

He went on to discuss the individual award he was presented with.

"This award means a lot to me, so I can only say thank you to everyone that voted for me," he said.

"It's always good to win this award, which is voted for by fellow professionals.

"Thanks to my teammates, as without them this award wouldn't have been possible."
