Real Madrid vs Villarreal: Team news and Update - FCNaija

Real Madrid is out to get their first win of the year having drawn against Celta Vigo and Numancia in their previous matches,  Los Blancos will welcome Villarreal to the Santiago Bernabeu in their next La Liga game on Saturday.



The La Liga Champions will be without their captain Sergio Ramos and also striker Karim Benzema will also miss the tie due to injury.

Dani Carvajal will return to the lineup after seeing out his suspension after his deliberate handball against Barcelona in El-Clasico.


The yellow submarine is rocked with injuries as they will be without Soriano, Bruno, Victor Ruiz, Sansone, Samedo, Suarez, Fernandez are all out for the visit against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.


Real Madrid and Villarreal have played on 34 occasions, the La Liga Champions have a better head to head record they have won the Ceramica outfit on 21 times and drew on 10 occasions while Villarreal has won on three occasions.

In their last six meetings, Real Madrid was able to clinch three victories while Villarreal won one and two of those ties ended in a draw.



The reigning La Liga Champions form in the domestic scene have been poor as they are struggling to get their blistering form that saw them win the La Liga last season.

Zinedine Zidane’s men have not been in the right form since the start of the League.

Their last two games have ended in a draw against Celta Vigo in the La Liga and Numancia in the Copa Del Rey.

The reigning Champions are current in the fourth position on the La Liga standings.


The Yellow Submarine were held at home by Deportivo La Coruna in their first match of 2018, but have won their last two away league fixtures – both 1-0 – against Celta Vigo and Valencia.

Javi Calleja’s men have been in nice form since the start of the year. They are currently six in the La Liga log.

Villarreal won Leganes in the Copa Del Rey but they could not make it to the next round base on away goal rule.
