Chelsea made an offer of Alvaro Morata plus €55 million for Juventus double Gonzalo Higuain and Mattia Caldara as AC Milan have reportedly agreed on a loan deal for the striker.

The Blues have been linked with Higuain ever since new boss Maurizio Sarri arrived however, the Rossoneri are believed to have secured a season-long loan for the 30-year-old ahead of a big-money move in 2019.

According to Sky Sport Italia claim as part of the deal, the Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci will return to Juventus from Milan a year after he left for €42m, with Mattia Caldara set to move in the opposite direction.

The Argentina international moved to Juventus in 2016 for €90m and scored 40 goals in 76 Serie A appearances. But the surprise purchase of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid meant he was surplus to requirements for manager Max Allegri’s squad.

Higuain managed 16 goals in 35 Serie A outings last term, which is his lowest return since he arrived in Italy from Real Madrid in 2013.
