Real Madrid has already contacted River Plate about their interest in the 20-year-old midfielder and they are willing to meet his $15 million buy-out clause to overcome the competition.

Los Millonarios' president, Rodolfo D’Onofrio, accused Real Madrid of ignoring the club to make a direct contact with the Argentine midfielder without the club's permission.

"It surprises us, if it is as it seems, that a stately institution like Real Madrid has acted in this negotiation directly with the football player, without respecting a club like River and behind our back," he told Marca.

Real Madrid recent policy tends to be investing in youth and young players rather than spending heavily on their 'Galacticos policy'.
