REVEALED: Croatian star Modric 'sad' at Real Madrid

Croatian star Luka Modric is reportedly not happy with his stay at Real Madrid this season and that has cast doubt over future in the Spanish capital.

Real Madrid is experiencing a dip in form which has seen them go four games without a win and also without scoring a goal.

According to Italian sports daily Gazzetta Dello Sport, Modric is ‘sad’ at the club and a much-reported move to Inter ‘is still in his thoughts’.

The exit of Cristiano Ronaldo and Modric fellow countryman Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid could have been his main reason for been dejected at the club.

His fellow Croatian stars Sime Vrsaljko, Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic all play for Inter Milan which could be another reason why Modric is ‘sad’ at the capital club.

Inter Milan has signalled their interest in signing the World Cup finalist on a six-year contract but Real Madrid blocked the deal and even threatened to report the Nerazzurri’s director to UEFA.

Although reports say Real Madrid had ‘a gentleman’s agreement’ with the Croatian playmaker ’ with president Florentino Perez although there is no indication the club were under any obligation to honour this.

Modric won the best player of last season by UEFA and FIFA and he is still in contention to win the Ballon d’Or.
