Rivers Utd unveil new players ahead of NPFL curtain raiser - FCNaija

Ahead of their opening fixture in the 2018 new NPFL season against El Kanemi Warriors on Sunday, Port Harcourt based outfit Rivers United on Saturday unveiled their latest additions during a ceremony at the club’s home ground, the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by the club’s technical manager, Stanley Eguma, co-ordinator general, Bashiru Badawiy, supporters club chairman, Comrade Franklin Owhor as well as supporters and fans.

The newly signed Rivers United players according to an official release by the club's media head were; Emeka Nwabulu (Goalkeeper), Samuel Ganda (Right back), Bamba Bakary (Left back), Balogun Akeem (Centre half/Right back), Gbadebo Samson (Centre half), Ikeleji Bello (Centre half/Defensive midfielder), Sunday Afolabi (Defensive midfielder), Eneji Otekpa (Midfielder), Koffi Roland (Attacking midfielder), Morris Chebem (Attacking midfielder), Ochowechi ‘Oche’ Salefu (Attacking midfielder), Prince Aggrey (Forward), Samuel Akinbinu (Forward), Malachi Ohawume (Forward) and Elum Sochima (Forward)

Apart from the new players, chief coach, Ndubuisi Nduka was also unveiled on Saturday while the likes of Robert Cole (Goalkeeper) and Obinze Godwin (Defensive midfielder) were recalled from loan.

Prince Aggrey, who was among the stars unveiled expressed readiness to give his all to the ‘Pride of Rivers’ in the upcoming campaign.

"I will wear the number ten jersey and I understand the responsibility that comes with that. I think my contribution will act as a big plus to the team.

"Most of the new players that have joined the club are good players; quality players and I believe we will contribute in making this club the best in Nigeria." Aggrey told his new side's official website

Also speaking after the unveiling ceremony, attacking midfielder, Ochowechi ‘Oche’ Salefu noted that he will look to replicate his displays from last season when he donned the strips Remo Stars, this term, at United.

"I want to do even better than what I did for Remo Stars here at Rivers United." Salefu stated.

On his part, General Manager of Rivers United FC, Chief Okey Kpalukwu explained that it was imperative for the supporters and fans of the club to have a ‘proper glimpse of their new stars’ before the 2018 NPFL season officially kicks off.
