Roma star Nainggolan ban for one month with €1,600 fined

Roma workaholic midfielder Radja Nainggolan has been sentenced to a one-month driving ban and €1,600 fine after being charged with drink-driving.

The 29-year-old Belgium international was convicted for relates to an incident that happened after Belgium’s 1-1 draw with Greece a year ago when Nainggolan was pulled up in a rental car with his friend on their way home from a nightclub.

Although the pair admitted to being under the influence, the midfielder was quoted in his defence as saying: “I didn’t drive. The car stopped with a flat tire and I happened to be behind the wheel.”

This is not the first time for Serie star has been apprehended for poor conduct, with Roberto Martinez initially dropping him from the Belgium squad due to his smoking habit, before he was forced to apologise for posting a drunken Instagram video on New Year’s Eve.
