Brazil legend Ronaldo de Lima has named five countries as the World Cup favourite for the 2018 tournament in Russia.

The 41-year-old scored two goals in the final against Germany they last time Brazil won the World Cup in 2002 Korea/Japan after first lifting the trophy first back in 1994.

Former Barcelona and Real Madrid striker Ronaldo picked defending champions Germany, Argentina, France, Spain and England but three-time world player of the year did not select his country Brazil as one of the main contenders for this summer's tournament in Russia

"I think Germany are always strong, Spain is strong as well, England, France, Argentina, with [Lionel] Messi, it's always difficult to win the World Cup," Ronaldo told Omnisport.

"But we will see a beautiful World Cup. I hope Brazil can win again."

Germany are the current holders of the World Cup having triumphed on Brazilian soil in 2014, and they are the favourites with the bookmakers ahead of Brazil, France and Spain.

Ronaldo has banged on 68 goals in 98 appearances for his Selecao.
