Zinedine Zidane says Cristiano Ronaldo and his team-mates are hungry and they always wants more following Real Madrid's most recent title triumph -this time a 2-1 victory over Manchester United in the European Super Cup, a match where his players showed their hunger again.
Zidane's men outclassed Manchester United on Tuesday to retain the Uefa Super Cup with victory in a sweltering Skopje. It was suggested by reporters after the game that Real play better under new systems and lots of evolution but the Frenchman believes it not down to evolution but the hunger and the desire to want by his players.
"We have a lot of talent in the team and with hard work you can achieve many things. They are a hungry team, they want more.
"Today’s game has been almost perfect, the first half was spectacular and we suffered a bit in the second half but it is a final and it’s normal things like this happen. If we’d scored a third goal from Gareth [Bale], that would have been it. We’ve got character and we’re a hungry team." Zidane told UEFA.com
Ronaldo who started from the bench and his troops dominated from the start and led when Casemiro - who earlier hit the bar - slid in a half volley.
The Spaniards doubled their lead when Isco calmly slotted in from eight yards after a neat one-two with Gareth Bale before United's new £75m striker Romelu Lukaku tapped in off a rebound following Nemanja Matic's powerful drive to reduce the deficit and hand the English outfit a lifeline.
