Ronaldo and Ferguson have remained close since his £80million move to Real Madrid and chat regularly when their paths cross.
Ronaldo sought out Ferguson within minutes of Real Madrid’s latest Champions League triumph in Cardiff.
But just a few weeks earlier they had been together at a function in which Ronaldo indicated to the Scot that he felt unloved at Real Madrid and let down by some of the fans who had at times booed him despite his amazing goal-scoring feats for the Spanish giants.
He told Ferguson that the dressing room atmosphere was often strained unlike the camaraderie he felt during his time at Manchester United. It’s no secret that Ferguson, who still has influence within the Old Trafford corridors, would love Ronaldo to return.
He continually insists that United sold him too cheaply – that they should have held out for more than the then record £80m outlay. Whether manager Jose Mourinho shares the same desire to be reunited with a player with whom he shared an up and down relationship during his time as Real Madrid boss is open to question.
Paris Saint-Germain have already indicated they will pay whatever it costs to bring the Portuguese international to France, according to media rreports.
