See how Super Falcons players celebrate Thursday night after qualifying for the knockout stages of the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France for the first time in 20 years.

The African Champions had to wait until the final Group F fixtures between Chile and Thailand to see if they would progress to the last 16 of the tournament.

The USA beat Sweden 2-0 and more importantly, while the South American nation could only defeat Asian giant 2-0, despite needing to win by three unreplied goals, which Super Falcons have reached the knockout stages of the Women’s World Cup just once before now, a quarter-final appearance in the competition in the United States in 1999.

However, Thomas Dennerby’s ladies took social media to express their joy of qualifying to the next round of the competition.

Super Falcons will now face Germany in the last 16 on June 22, while Cameroon also qualified as one of the third best-placed teams, thus making it the first time two Africans will reach the knockout stages of the competition will lock horn with England on Sunday.
