Everton striker Oumar Niasse become the first Premier League player to be retrospectively charged by the Football Association for diving.

The 27-year-old won a penalty in the fifth minute of the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, after minimal contact with defender Scott Dann.

Niasse has now been charged with 'successful deception of a match official', and becomes the first Premier League player to receive retrospective action for such an incident.

Senegal international who was recently welcomed back into the side after initially being shunned by former manager Ronald Koeman has until 6 pm to respond to the charge.

The Niasse could be banned for two games if found guilty and Everton star is the third Premier League player to have faced trial by video after being accused of diving to win a penalty.

Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva and Watford’s Richarlison both escaped being charged last month after separate three-strong panels that examined incidents involving them did not deem - unanimously at least - them to have deceived the referee.

The forward was out of favour at the start of the campaign but, with the Toffees struggling for results, he has now scored five goals in seven appearances this season.
