Serie A Wrap: Inter gets big win | Juve, Roma drop pointsShare:
Inter Milan recorded a massive win over the weekend to get themselves closer to European football next season.
What a weekend it was in Serie A, with Juventus and Roma dropping points on the same weekend, Napoli capitalizing but still failing to upstage Roma in second, while Inter Milan recorded a big win away from home.
Fcnaija.com takes a look at how it all went down in Italy’s top flight this past weekend.
Second-placed Roma saw their lead on Napoli reduced after they suffered a rare home loss to none other than the Naples club. As a result, Roma failed to bridge the gap on leaders Juventus, who also failed to win.
Cagliari 1-5 Inter Milan
Inter secured a massive win at Cagliari to keep their hopes of European football alive, after a slow start to the season. The win leaves them sixth, but only six points adrift Napoli in the third and final Champions League place.
AC Milan 3-1 Chievo
Another Milan side picking up three points, and are seventh, one point behind Inter. However, they must rue their inconsistency as if they had maintained some consistency from the way they began the season, they probably would be far up the table at the moment.
Udinese 1-1 Juventus
The surprise of the weekend. This was another fixture Juventus were expected to win, but it didn’t work out that way, as they dropped points, which has proven to be a rarity so far. Fortunately for them, Roma failed to capitalize.
Atalanta 0-0 Fiorentina
Crotone 0-0 Sassuolo
Empoli 0-2 Genoa
Torino 3-1 Palermo
Bologna 0-2 Lazio
