Serie A Wrap: Juve keep lead | Roma chase | Inter dropShare:
Juventus' Marko Pjaca takes on a Sampdoria player during their 1-0 win in Serie A over the weekend.
The 29th week of Serie A games have come and gone and champions Juventus continues to march toward another Scudetto title. It was a difficult weekend, but the Old Lady held through to snatch a narrow win, while Napoli also recorded an important win to keep their faint hopes alive.
Inter Milan, who have been impressive over the last few weeks, however dropped points at the weekend as the chase for the remaining Champions League places also continued.
AC Milan 1-0 Genoa
Milan earned an important win at the Guiseppe Meazza to keep up their slim hopes of qualifying for Europe next season. Matias Fernandez scored the only goal for the former champions in the 33rd minute and it proved to be the winner.
Sampdoria 0-1 Juventus
A Juan Cuadrado goal in the seventh minute was all that was needed to earn maximum points for the leaders, as they inch closer to another Serie A title. They held on for the rest of the game as the showed champions stuff not to let the lead slip.
Torino 2-2 Inter
Inter failed to follow up with last weekend’s big win to continue their march up the league table. The draw notwithstanding, they are still fifth on the table, but level on points with Atalanta.
Roma 3-1 Sassuolo
The capital club came from behind to earn maximum points and remain in second place, eight points behind leaders Juventus. Roma had gone behind in this one as early as the ninth minute, but Leandro Paredes’ strike seven minutes later leveled for them, before Mohamed Salah’s first half stoppage time goal gave them the lead. Edin Dzeko sealed the win with a second half strike as they returned to second after temporarily being usurped by Napoli.
Udinese 4-1 Palermo
Atalanta 3-0 Pescara
Bologna 4-1 Chievo
Cagliari 0-0 Lazio
Crotone 0-1 Fiorentina
Empoli 2-3 Napoli
