Serie A Wrap: Roma keep chase | Inter fumble | Napoli lose

AS Roma defeated Inter Milan to stay on the chase with Juventus for the title.


Napoli faltered in their quest to catch Juventus at the top of the table as Serie A entered its 26th week over the weekend.

So also was Inter Milan, whose quest to return to Champions League football was dented after they suffered a home defeat to Roma, who kept up the chase with Juventus.

Napoli 0-2 Atalanta

Napoli’s slim title hopes were all but ended with this defeat, as they suffered a very surprising loss to ten-man Atalanta. While they aren’t a struggling side in this season’s Serie A, and are only behind their weekend opponents on the table, Atalanta weren’t expected to a win over Napoli, but the win means they are now within three points of the Naples club.

Inter 1-3 Roma

Roma continued their chase of Juventus on the table with this win, while Inter’s rejuvenation was halted with this defeat. Although still seven points behind Juventus, Roma can take solace in the fact they will push the defending champions all the way, but for Inter, they are now seven points off the last Champions League spot.


Juventus 2-0 Empoli

The Old Lady marched closer to the title with this win, and stay seven points ahead of Roma, who also got the job done over Inter over the weekend.

Sassuolo 0-1 AC Milan

Milan recorded this important win at Sassuolo, to keep alive, their chances of a place in Europe next term.
