Manchester City suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat in the Champions League after two first goals from Bernard and Ismaily gave Shakhtar the win but Sergio Aguero got a late consolation goal for the Cityzens.

Manchester city pushed high against Shakhtar Donetsk, they created few chances but no serious threat on goal.

City continued to press but the not so clinical in the opening minute 24 minutes, the home team got the lead in through Bernard in the 26th minute from a brilliant curl inside the area.

The home team continued to push on as Bernard effort was saved by Ederson, the home side got the second goal from a fine finish as Ismaily rounded up Ederson to tap in into an empty net after as he connected with a long-range pass from the midfield.

The home team nearly got the third goal but was effectively blocked by Manchester City defence.

Gabriel Jesus was denied the chance to get a goal and in turn, the home team had a counter-attack butTaison’s effort went wide.

The first half ended in favour of Shakhtar Donetsk as the host have an advantage 2-0 lead.

The second half started with Manchester City pushing in for a goal but the home team is more composed as they shared almost equal possession with the visitors.

Pep Guardiola substituted Leroy Sane for Brahiam Diaz in the 61st minute, in a bid to add a new dimension to his attack.

the home team continued to dictate proceedings as they made the visitors to run after their pass. Shkhtar continued to dominate but City looked more dangerous in the final third and in the dying minute of the ecounter Gabriel Jesus was brought down in the area and was awarded a penalty,  Sergio Aguero made no mistake from the spot as he gave City a consolation goal in Ukraine.

The visitors made their second substitute in the 69th minute as Fernandiho made way for Sergio Aguero
