Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has given his thoughts on the struggles of Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid, few months after dethroning the Catalans as La Liga champions and becoming the first club in the history of the Champions League to defend the most coveted club football trophy in the World.
Real Madrid are
currently in fourth place in the La Liga table, with Valencia and city rivals Atletico Madrid between themselves and leaders Barcelona. With only two wins in their last five league games, Ronaldo and company have a fight on their hands to close the eight-point gap to the Blaugrana.
Commenting on the side who were pre-season Liga favourites
, especially after edging Barcelona and Manchester United to the Spanish and UEFA Super Cups respectively just before the new season kicked off, Saurez who has six league goals this season believes its difficult to explain Real Madrid's predicament.
"After all that they've won under Zidane, how do you explain Real's poor form of late?. Every team goes through dips in which they don't play well or don't get results.
"They shoot very often but cannot find a way to score a goal. In football that's normal, we also have to go through those spells. And what we're clear about is that we cannot give them any advantage in LaLiga." Saurez told MARCA
The Spanish champions and back-to-back Champions League winners have fallen eight points off the top of La Liga after 14 matches. They failed to win any of their opening three home games for the first time since 1995. Their defeat at Girona, back in October was their first defeat to a top-tier debutant since 1990.
