Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has pledged to deliver a Russia 2018 World Cup ticket to the Nigerian nation with his impressive as the Eaglesboss giving credence to that pledge. After his appointment last August, Rohr got the Super Eagles off to a winning start, beating Tanzania 1-0 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier that had already been rendered meaningless after Egypt secured the lone qualifying berth from Group G. In their World Cup qualifiers, the German secured a tough 2-1 win in Zambia before a confident 3-1 victory at the Nest of Champions in Uyo against Algeria to claim the group summit. The six points, coupled with some surprising results in the other games involving current AFCON Champions Cameroon leaves Nigeria with an early four-point lead. The former Gabon manager who believes nothing has been decided yet in the race to Russia appears to have mapped out s success plan for the Eagles already. "Winning our first two matches was a great start, but we will not play again until the end of August and early September, when we face Cameroon. They of course are African champions and will be highly motivated to take the form from Gabon into the World Cup qualifiers."I do not get carried away. It is a very tough group and nothing has been decided. But I admit that, at the moment, we have a small advantage and if we win our two matches at home against Cameroon and Zambia, we will qualify." Rohr told FIFA.comAfter ending his playing career with Bordeaux in 1989, Rohr moved straight into coaching at the club – first as a youth coach, before taking over the senior side. In 2010, he took his first national team position, leading Gabon into the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations two years later. Since then, stints with Burkina Faso and Niger have followed.
