Chidozie Awaziem's run of eight Ligue 1 games without defeat with the Claudio Ranieri led Nantes was halted on Saturday after going down 1-0 to Dijon FCO.
That form had lifted them up the lofty heights of third place with 20 points from 10 matches, their best start to a season in 23 years.

Nantes' unbeaten run in the league comes to an end after eight matches. They will hope to begin another sequence when they entertain Toulouse FC next weekend. After that, though, is a trip to Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Nantes' momentum was checked in midweek as they suffered a shock defeat at Ligue 2 strugglers Tours FC in the Coupe de la Ligue. Ranieri changed most of his team from that game but his side slumped to a first league loss since going down 1-0 to Olympique de Marseille on August 12.
The only goal arrived 20 minutes in at the Stade Gaston-Gérard, with Frédéric Sammaritano delivering a cross from the right and Cape Verde striker Tavares rising unmarked at the back post to head home. Ciprian Tatarusanu in the Nantes goal got something on the ball but could not keep it out.

been a big problem for Nantes, even during their unbeaten run, and they toiled to create chances for an equaliser
. Léo Dubois was a regular source of danger with his crosses from the right, but often there were no takers while one was fired over by René Khrin late on.
