Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi has been given a new nickname “Black Mamba” by Trabzonspor fans after he helped them secure a 2-0 victory against Galatasaray last night.

The 24-year-old played for 90 minutes as goals from Yusuf Yazıcı and Senegalese star Dame N'Doye earned them a well-deserved victory.

However, the Nigerian was brilliant for the home side through the middle as he dictated the pace of the game and provided solid cover for the back four to hold off pressure from the Turkish giant after Uğur Demirok was sent off.

Black Mamba means, a highly venomous slender olive-brown to dark grey snake that moves with great speed and agility. Native to eastern and southern Africa, it is the largest poisonous snake on the continent.

Meanwhile, Onazi is not the first sportman with the nickname, Black Mamba as Basketball legend Kobe Bryant is also called the name.

Kobe reveals that the origin of his 'Black Mamba' nickname was inspired from the movie “Kill Bill,” after watching Quentin Tarantino's “Kill Bill,” in which the snake, known for its agility and aggressiveness, was used as a code name for a deadly assassin.
