46 Days to World Cup: Fears as Ndidi suffers injury blow

Wilfred Ndidi will not play for Leicester again this season, but will be ready for the World Cup, according to Super Eagles spokesman Toyin Ibitoye.

Super Eagles midfielder Ndidi suffered a hamstring injury  two weeks ago while playing for Leicester, and amid fears he may be out long enough to miss the World Cup, Ibitoye has posited that the former Genk star will be ready for the World Cup.

“He’s making good progress, I have been in contact with the medical team (of the Super Eagles) and he is recovering faster than they had even anticipated,” Ibitoye said on a radio programme on Monday.

“He may not play again for Leicester City this season, but he is likely to at least play our final friendly against Czech Republic (June 6).”

The assertion means Ndidi is almost certainly ruled out for the World Cup warm-up games against DR Congo in Port Harcourt (May 28) and against England at Wembley (June 2).
