Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has questioned the decision of Video Assistant Referees(VAR) to chalk off Sadio Mane’s goal in Liverpool’s 1-1 scored draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday evening encounter.England international Marcus Rashford has put Ole Gunnar Solskjaer upfront in the 36-minute of the fixtures but Senegalese forward thought he had equalised for the Reds only for VAR to disallow the goal for a handball. The Brighton and Hove Albion center-back Balogun disagree with the decision as he took his social media handle to share his view.
How’s that a handball?? Seriously?? Bounces off his thigh against his hand, which is no where near an unnatural position, esepceillay if you consider that the has to “fight” the defender off.— Leon Balogun (@LeonBalogun) October 20, 2019
IF possession is gained, which he only did after he got the ball off of the defender’s feet again in my opinion 🤷🏽♂️— Leon Balogun (@LeonBalogun) October 20, 2019
Adam Lallana rescues Liverpool from first Premier League defeat of the season after coming from the substitute bench to level it up when he benefitted from Andrew Robertson's cross to stretch the Reds' unbeaten run to nine games this term.Balogun on his part is yet to make any appearance for Brighton in the Premier League this season and was omitted from Super Eagles two friendly matches with Ukraine and Brazil in September and October respectively.
These hand ball decisions are a part of the game that aaaalways will be heavily discussed - not as reasonable as we do now though 😅But for me this situation is not a handball, regardless of who I’m rooting for. — Leon Balogun (@LeonBalogun) October 20, 2019
