Tottenham Hotspur came out bold with a positive result this time from Wembley after they defeated Borussia Dortmund 3-1, in an impressive style in the Champions league Group H game.

Wembley has not really favoured Spurs both domestically and in Europe, they Wembley defeats in the Champions League and FA Cup semi-finals the last term, Tottenham had lost to Chelsea and drawn with Burnley this season, sparking up talk that they were jinxed at the hallowed north London venue.

But, after losing eight of their previous 12 matches at Wembley, Kane's perfect finishing ensured Tottenham finally enjoyed a night to remember in Wembley.

Son Heung-Min's first goal of the season put Tottenham ahead early on with Andriy Yarmolenko conjuring a sublime equalizer to level terms.

Kane, who scored twice in Saturday's win at Everton, restored Tottenham's advantage before the interval and wrapped up the victory with his second goal after half-time.

However, Jan Vetronghen late sent off was the only negative side of the game for Spurs who claimed three points at home for a very long time.

"It was so important to win, we are so happy. We increased our level in the second half and were very clinical," Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said.

"It is more than three points. The team is more mature now. Harry Kane was fantastic."

Meanwhile, Real Madrid victory over Apoel Nicosia has placed Spurs in the second position after match day one.

The defending European Champions will make a trip to Germany to play Borussia Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion, while Spurs will travel to Cyprus to take on Apoel Nicosia for match day two.
