TRANSFER NEWS: Chelsea's Nigerian star offer to Lyon

Olympique Lyonnais have been offered the opportunity to sign Chelsea's Nigerian star Tariq Uwakwe this summer transfer, according to a report.

The 19-year-old London-born would become a free agent July 1 if he does not put pen to paper on the fresh deal but the Europa League Champions has been offered the midfielder a contract extension to remain at Stamford Bridge beyond June 30, 2019, but is unwilling to sign.

However, Futaa report that French Ligue 1 giant is ready to sign Uwakwe because Lyon feels the youngster would not be ready for first-team football straight away with Les Gones.

The teenager is considered one of the promising players at Chelsea and was invited to train with the first team ahead of the Premier League meeting with Tottenham Hotspur in February but the versatile star had hinted that he wanted to move onto new pastures, preferably a foreign club.

Uwakwe would like to follow the footstep of fellow Nigerian of Victor Moses, Kenneth Omeruo, Tammy Abraham that wants out of Stamford Bridge due to lack of the first-team opportunity with Ola Aina has since the depart the West London outfit for Serie A club Torino.
