Arsenal unveiled first summer signing of Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano Futebol Clube for an undisclosed fee.

The 18-year-old forward scored 10 goals in 34 appearances for the Sao Paulo-based club which led to a call-up to the full Brazil squad for a training camp in May ahead of Copa America.

Gabriel signed a long-term deal with the Gunners and he will be part of Arsenal’s pre-season plans and could feature during their tour of the United States this summer.

"I model my game on Cristiano Ronaldo, he is a player who works hard, pushing himself to the next level,’ Gabriel told Arsenal’s official website.

"Always in the run for titles and individual trophies.

"It is a dream since I was a child and also my family’s dream for me to be playing in Europe and playing for a big team like Arsenal. I am going to take this opportunity.

"I am a player who gives his all at all times, I play as a team and always looking to win games and win trophies.’

Arsenal have launched a £40m bid for Wilfried Zaha and continued talks with Porto’s Yacine Brahimi.
