UCL Preview: Feyenoord set for Manchester City's test

Feyenoord is set to face Manchester City in their Champions League opening game of the group stage on Wednesday at the De Kuip Stadium.

The Dutch Champions are in good form at the moment having won their last game with a 4-2 score line against Heracles Almelo in Eredivisie during the weekend.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's  men come into this match on the back of a 4-2 win against Heracles Almelo, an excellent result, they have maintained a 100% record in their opening four games.

They have scored twelve goals in those four matches, conceding just the three goals, they are in fine form.

The Dutch side find themselves in a tough group, with Man City, Napoli and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Manchester City come into this match in excellent form, after stuffing a poor Liverpool side 5-0 at the Etihad during the weekend Premier League game.

Guardiola’s men have made a huge statement with that victory, inflicting Jurgen Klopp’s heaviest ever defeat as Liverpool manager.

The pressure is on Guardiola to produce a trophy this season, the primary target must be to win the Premier League, City will also be looking to make inroads in the Champions League, they were knocked out by free scoring Monaco last season.

City captain Vincent Kompany is likely to miss out again following the calf complaint that saw him miss the win against Liverpool. Ederson is also a doubt following his collision with Sadio Mane on Saturday.

Claudio Bravo is likely to deputise for the Brazilian and Raheem Sterling is welcomed back from suspension.

Feyenoord was dealt a blow at the weekend when Nicolai Jorgensen picked up an injury. Last season's Eredivisie top scorer was marked as a real threat to the City back line, but the Dane was substituted in the first half during the league game against Heracles.

Former Liverpool and Middlesbrough keeper Brad Jones is likely to start following his return from injury and completing 90 minutes on Saturday.

Manchester City Lineup: Bravo; Danilo, Stones, Otamendi; Walker, de Bruyne, Fernandinho, D.Silva, Sane; Aguero, Jesus.

Feyenoord: Jones; Diks, St.Juste, Heijden, Nelom; El Ahmadi, Toonstra, Vilhena; Berghuis, Kramer, Boetius.
