Gareth Bale and Dani Carvajal both sat out Real Madrid's final training session ahead of their Wednesday's UEFA Champions League final group fixture in Spain.

While the right-back is suspended for both the Champions League dead rubber and the weekend LaLiga clash with Sevilla, his Welsh colleague according to MARCA is injured.

Coming into the session was Alvaro Tejero as Zinedine Zidane set his team up for a bout of rondos while the press were present at Valdebebas.

Zidane's Madrid are unbeaten at the Bernabeu against German teams. The Whites have scored 9 goals in 3 home games against Wolfsburg, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern.

In the 2015/16 season, Zidane's Madrid came up against Wolfsburg in the quarter-finals. Trailing from the first leg in Germany, a comeback was needed at home. A hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo gave the Madridistas a 3-0 win seeing them through to the semi-finals on the road to la Undécima in Milan.

In a repeat of this year’s campaign, almost a year ago, on December 7, 2016, Borussia Dortmund visited Real Madrid in the last match of the Group Stage of the Champions League. On that occasion, it was Benzema who sealed qualification to the round of 16 with a brace, reaching 50 goals in the European Cup.

The last German team to play at the Santiago Bernabéu was Bayern Munich, in last season’s second leg of the quarter-finals. It was one of the magical European nights. The result of the first leg was favourable, but Bayern levelled things up in normal time, forcing the match into extra time. Three goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and one from Asensio were enough to see the Whites through to Cardiff on their way to la Duodécima.
