Golden Eaglets assistant manager Nduka Ugbade has poured encomium on new Leicester City sensation Wilfred Ndidi, saying the Super Eagles star sees more with his brains than with the eyes.
The 20-year-old who joined the premier league champions this January earned rave reviews for his debut display in the 2-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park after training just twice with his new teammates. Read Also | Mikel makes first appearance for Tianjin Teda
Ugbade knows Ndidi very well having coached the defensive midfielder at the Under-17 and Under-20 levels for Nigeria and has backed the intelligent midfielder for a great success.
“Ndidi’s biggest strength is his intelligence,” Ugbade told SportingLife exclusively. “He is very quick in thinking and coordinates very well.
“You may look at him as a player that is not quick but he is extremely quick. However, his quickness is not in the body but in the brain, which makes him faster than one who is actually fast running with the legs.
“So sometimes, he is able to cut passes and win balls because he anticipates faster than others. He sees with the brain much more than he sees with the eyes”
Ndidi will come up against the man he was brought in to replace N’Golo Kante when Leicester City hosts Chelsea at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
