Manchester United target Samuel Umtiti during an interesting interview with French television has spoken about the prospect of having his French team-mate Antoine Griezmann move to the Camp Nou.
Griezmann looked ready to depart Diego Simeone's side Atletico last summer before the La Liga outfit were handed a transfer embargo, forcing the attacker to call off his exit plans, knowing he could not be immediately replaced.
But recent reports from Spain say he has now dropped his Old Trafford dreams and has ‘agreed’ to join Barcelona for a fee of around £88m in the summer.
Umtiti who agrees negotiations for a contract renewal at Barcelona have
not begun and says his release clause is low, following reports of his Camp Nou exit could not hide his joy at the prospect of playing alongside his international team-mate Griezmann.
"Griezmann to Barça? Am I an agent now? (laughs). Yes, we did talk about it.
"I asked Griezmann what he thought of Barca and everything about the club. As any other player, he said only good things.
"All players at the level of Antoine dream of playing here. If Griezmann comes, we will have to play with six attackers!." Umtiti told Canal Football Club
Away from Griezmann, Umtiti whose future looks set to dominate the headlines in the coming weeks with speculation claiming he wants a far bigger contract than Barcelona are prepared to offer says he is focused on the pitch and not worried about contract talks.
"Negotiations for a contract renewal have not started yet. My release clause is low, but that’s not what I worry about, I focus on the pitch.
"It’s not only Manchester United, other clubs want me as well, but my sole focus is on Barcelona.
"It was my dream to play at Barça. And I achieved it when I was just 22. I’m very happy here, whenever I play and whenever I train." the Frenchman added
Some reports have already turned their attention to who Barcelona could look to replace Umtiti with but hopefully, the club can get him tied down to a new and improve deal
