Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has aimed a sly dig at Chelsea ahead of their Super Cup clash on Wednesday evening.

Van Dijk was of the view that Chelsea is a different team without Eden Hazard and he believes that the Blues manager Frank Lampard should alter their approach from last season without Hazard who scored twice against Liverpool in the last time out.

He said: "He is a quality player and he was important to them but I think they have plenty of quality players.

"I think they play a little bit different than they did last year. We will analyze them over the next couple of days and then we will be prepared.

"Nothing that happened last season [against Chelsea] will have any impact on what is going to happen. It is the next game.

"It is going to be a new game. They have a new situation at the club there but we want to do better than we did last year and we will see.

"It is a trophy that we can win and we want to win it so we are going to give it everything we can."
