Arsenal star Jack Wilshere hopes of returning to Gunners first team took an ‘eventful’ turn for the worse on Monday evening after the injury-plagued midfielder was sent-off in an Under-23 game against Manchester City.

Wilshere is preparing for his comeback after suffering a broken leg during his spell on loan at Bournemouth last year and is playing with the youth squad to regain full fitness.

The 25-year-old reacted angrily to a heavy challenge by Wilson, jumping onto his feet to push the youngster the floor before the Manchester City teammates stormed in with arms and fists flying.

Both players received their marching orders but rather than castigate Wilshere for a loss of discipline and composure, most Arsenal fans took their Twitter account to delighted to see the sort of passion and fighting spirit that had been totally lacking at Stoke game on Saturday.

However, The England international didn't show any remorse for the act of petulance, Wilshere took to Instagram in the earlier hours of Tuesday morning hailing an ‘eventful’ return to playing at the Emirates Stadium, claiming his ‘passion and hunger’ were back.

Wilshere is among several players who have less than 12 months remaining on their contracts.
