WATCH: Usain Bolt makes professional football debut

Former Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt makes his professional football debut in a friendly game for Coast Mariners during their 6-1 win over a Central Coast Select eleven.

The 32-year-old world record joined the A-League side on trial makes a second-half appearance in the 71 minutes of the encounter as the fastest man on the planet received a huge reception from the adoring fans.

Speaking after the game, Bolt knows he has a lot of work to do but he is feeling positive about making his debut.

Bolt said. "It was good. It was what I expected. The crowd gave me plenty of motivation. I think my fitness is much better than the first week since I came here. I’m grateful to the Mariners for giving me the chance."

"Right now I’m just trying to get used to the guys, it’s a wonderful moment, to actually get on the field and play professional football. The players have really accepted me, trying to teach me things at training, encouraging me to push myself."

Bolt had a trial in Germany and Norway after he was named of the man of the match for a Rest of the World XI in Soccer Aid against England and he is looking to win a contract ahead of the start of the season in October.
