Chelsea chief and former Nigeria international Michael Emenalo has revealed the uncommon way he showed gratitude to Leicester City for selling N'Golo Kante to the Blues.

The London Evening Standard says Emenalo, who was present as Kante received his FWA trophy at the Landmark Hotel on Thursday night, said Chelsea got "lucky" last summer when they managed to recruit the midfielder and admitted he sent Leicester flowers to thank the club for allowing the deal to go through.

"We got lucky. I sent flowers to Leicester for letting us have him," Emenalo said at the dinner.

Kante was a very important member of the Leicester side that shocked the world to win the Premier League title in the 2015/16 campaign before the 26-year-old expressed a desire to sign for Chelsea as Antonio Conte sought to strengthen his midfield options.
