Jose Mourinho has offered his opinion on the Philippe Coutinho transfer saga - and the Manchester United boss has raised an interesting point.

Coutinho had pushed for a move to Barcelona during the summer transfer window, but Liverpool held firm, despite seeing three mega bids from the Spanish giants, and the Brazilian will stay on at Anfield for at least another season.

The third and final bid made for Coutinho was £119 million, although according to the Mirror, the true figure was a guaranteed £80million, and the rest add-ons, which may or may not have been triggered by the 25-year-old.

"Neymar changed everything," Mourinho told The Times.

"If the biggest transfer in history had still been [Paul] Pogba, I think Philippe Coutinho would now be in Barcelona at £101 million."

Unlike the majority of his Premier League rivals, the Manchester United boss got his own transfer business done early into the window, missing out on the frantic panic buying that comes towards the end.
