Alex Iwobi could miss Arsenal pre-season friendlies match against Barcelona and Real Madrid before they open 2019-20 Premier League campaign. 

The 23-year-old Nigeria forward is currently on international duty with the Super Eagles as they prepare to take on Burundi in their Africa Cup of Nations Group B opener on Saturday evening.

However, if Super Eagles qualify for the final of the tournament in Egypt on July 19 meaning Iwobi could miss the friendly against Barcelona at the Camp Nou on August 4 for the annual match in honour of Joan Gamper, the founding member, player and later president of the Spanish club because of he needs at least two weeks off to recharge his batteries after an exhausting competition. 

Arsenal are set to play Major League Soccer side the Colorado Rapids in Denver on July 16, before shifting their attention to the International Champions Cup, where they will play Bayern Munich, Fiorentina and Real Madrid across three cities in America.

Gunners will then host the Emirates Cup on July 28, before travelling to France to play Angers ahead of the Barcelona tie. 

Their match against Barcelona will be a week before the Gunners' first Premier League match away to Newcastle on  August 11.
