Super Eagles suffered another injury blow as Innocent Bonke will miss the Nigeria match against Sao Tome and Principe for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying in Morocco.

The 26-year-old Lorient defensive midfielder sustain an injury in the Nigeria 2-1 defeat to 2022 FIFA World Cup Mexico in Dallas on May 28 and the Kaduna-born star failed to recover for the 2-1 win over Sierra Leone in Abuja on Thursday.

Bonke has now joined Super Eagles assistant skipper William Troost-Ekong on the side line after the Watford defender suffered a muscle injury against Sierra Leone and couldn’t recover in time for the trip to Morocco.

The both pair have jet out to return to their base in France and England further treatment on the injury ahead of the upcoming European season begins in August.

The Super Eagles will face the Falcons of Sao Tome at the Adrar Stadium, Agadir on Monday afternoon.
