Barcelona is prepared to reduce its wage bill and register new signings for the upcoming La Liga season and one of the means of doing so is to clear off deadwood from the club.
Barcelona is not short of attacking players, having signed the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha from Bayern Munich and Leeds United this summer, pushing Aubameyang down the pecking order at Camp Nou despite only having been in Spain for six months.
The former Arsenal attacker has been impressive for the Catalan team since his arrival in January having scored 11 goals in 17 games for Barcelona.
The Gabon international scored 76 Premier League goals during his four-and-a-half-year at Emirate, he won the golden boot alongside Sadio Mane and Mohammed salah in 2019.
Manchester United was without a marksman in the Premier match against Brighton and they are in dire need to bring in a striker before the end of the transfer period.
However, The Independent reports that Chelsea has also been offered the player.
Blues manager Thomas Tuchel has worked with Aubameyang before at Borussia Dortmund, with the pair enjoying terrific success and he is keen on working with the attacker one more time.
Aubamenyang could favour a move to Chelsea following his relationship with Tuchel but Manchester United could also appeal to him as he might choose to work with Manchester United’s new manager Erik ten Hag.
