Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez wants the club to bring Paris Saint-Germain attacker back to Camp Nou, according to report.
Lionel Messi is wanted by Xavi at the club, the Argentine joined Paris Saint-Germain last season on a free transfer and failed to replicate the top form he exhibited at Barcelona at Parc des Princes.
Messi’s standard has dropped over the season and in 37 appearances for the Parisians, he’s scored 14 goals and assisted 16 times.
Messi was even targeted by boo boys earlier this year in the 3-0 win over Bordeaux in their Ligue 1 clash and some of the club fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the attacker and urged him to leave, at that time Barcelona was struggling in La Liga and aiming to get their rhythm with Real Madrid dominating the League.
Barcelona has invested heavily this summer and despite that, they were held to a goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday in their La Liga opener this season.
Xavi is tired of the boring football played by his men and he is keen on bringing two more attacking players to Camp Nou according to Spanish football reporter Guillem Balague, he wants Messi to return to the Nou Camp.
Manchester City ace Bernardo Silva is also on the wish list of Xavi, who has not denied rumours of a proposed £80million move to Spain, but now Messi has emerged as a top target.
Balague tweeted: “Clearly the midfield of Barcelona, with the exception of Pedri, has not got the subtle touch/thinking necessary to play as Xavi wants, to find the right tempo, to feed forwards (and Busquets has played his best football).
“Hence Xavi wanting Bernardo Silva (and asking for Messi).”
Messi’s father is ready to facilitate a deal that would bring him back to Camp Nou if the club directors are keen on his return, Messi’s PSG contract expires next summer but Barcelona is financially handicapped deal of this magnitude will mean they have to sell off reasonable numbers of players to attain such height.
