Barcelona attacker Martin Braithwaite has turned in several offers from other clubs in a bid to remain at the Camp Nou if his offer for exit is not met.
Barcelona is on the mission to clear out dead wood at the club as they look for a way out for the players that are not in the plan of manager Xavi Hernandez.
Braithwaite is one of the players on the unwanted list and he is told to find a club following the arrival of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha this summer.
Barcelona has made it clear to the fringe players who are not in the plan of Xavi to get a new club for themselves and the club is prepared to listen to the offer.
In the case of Braithwaite, Barcelona is willing to offer him a letter of freedom in order to help others sign him up for a free transfer. But the attacker has so far refused to leave.
The Dane had received appealing offers in the month of July, but he did not consider any of them. He even rejected the opportunity to gain a freedom letter that would make him a free agent in the summer.
Braithwaite wants the club to pay him off before he seeks a new club, something Barcelona is not willing to do as they are in financial crisis and the player’s actions have not gone down well with Barcelona who is battling to get their new players registered for the new season.
Barcelona is considering terminating Braithwaite’s contract on the final day of the transfer window, as it will make it difficult for him to find any other club as a retaliation plan for the player they signed in off transfer period to aid the club to stabilise when they were hit by serious of injuries a few seasons ago.
Barcelona is considering the possibility of legally avoiding paying the compensation to the Dane attacker should they terminate his contract, Although such an option appears to be unlikely, the club are determined to take up this matter aggressively.
Braithwaite has scored 10 goals in 57 competitive appearances for Barcelona. His current contract at Camp Nou expires in the summer of 2024.
