Germany striker could miss another major tournament having missed four major tournaments in his illustrious career.

Marco Reus was part of the German golden era that was supposed to be part of the team that won the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 following their victory over Argentina in the finals but he was left out of the squad due to injury.

Reus was also dropped from the squad that went to EURO 2016, 2021 and 2022 due to injury, he is a player that is capable of making difference in the national team and at the club level having shined for Borussia Dortmund on several occasions.

Reus could as well miss this world cup after the Borussia Dortmund captain is carried off on a stretcher in Revierderby against arch-rivals Schalke, Reus has not been fortunate to be part of the Germany squad and at 33 this could be his last chance to a major tournament with his latest injury creating further cause for concern.

Reus was selected as part of national team coach Hansi Flick’s upcoming Nations League squad for matches against Hungary and England at the end of September.

Flick will now be left sweating on the fitness of the experienced winger who is one of the more experienced members of the youthful-looking Germany squad.
