Liverpool defeated Manchester City 1-0 at Anfield in the Premier League as the Reds step up to clinch the vital three points against the Premier League Champions on Sunday evening.

Manchester City attackers were shut down by Liverpool defenders in the opening 45 minutes of the match with all square at Anfield after the first half.

Both teams tried in making their presence felt in the first half with several attempts blocks by the defence of the two teams.

Manchester City had a goal rule out following a foul in the build-up by Erling Haaland after the Norweigian attacker pulled down Fabio in the build-up of the goal.

Liverpool stepped up against Manchester City as they put their poor form behind them to give Manchester City a good run at Anfield.

Haaland was set up in a dangerous position but Liverpool goalkeeper Alison Becker was on spot to deny the Norweigian attacker.

Liverpool broke on the counter attacker but Mohammed Salah was unable to execute a perfect finish to beat Manchester City’s goalkeeper.

Jurgen Klopp made tactical substitutions with Fabinho, Firmino Elliot, Henderson, Nunez and Carvalho with 18 minutes left to play at Anfield.

Salah made a swift turn to beat Jaoa Cancelo from a long goal kick from Alison to run almost half of the field to beat Manchester City’s goalkeeper to make it 1-0 in the 76th minute.

Liverpool absorbed the pressure mounted by Manchester City to seal the win with just 10 minutes left.

Liverpool showed they can be another team when it comes to big games of this manner.
