AC Milan recorded a 2-0 win over Genoa at San Siro on Friday evening in Serie A as Stefano Pioli’s men regain the top spot of the league table.

AC Milan wasted no time to get things going with a goal from Rafael Leao in the 11th minute, the attacker was given space and time in the box.

AC Milan kept the pressure high on Genoa intending to get the second goal and a chance was presented to Alexis Saelemaekers in the 36th minute of the match but the attacker fired the shot over the crossbar.

Genoa almost cancelled out the lead but Pablo Galdmes’ effort went just over the bar in the additional time of the first half.

AC Milan was close to getting another goal but Olivier Giroud could not connect well with the pass from Saelemaekers.

The home ensured they had much of the ball possession and cut down the movement of Genoa from a dangerous position.

Junior Messias created space for himself after his effort was initially blocked and the Brazilian attacker made no mistake to resend the ball back inside the net to make it 2-0 for Milan.

AC Milan has regained the top spot after Inter Milan’s 3-1 victory over Spezia on Friday.

AC Milan will take a trip to Olimpico Stadium to face Lazio while Genoa will be at home against Cagliari in their next Serie A games.
