Another Abuja base Nigerian wonder kid Victory Beniangba set to replace Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers in KRC Genk from Young Boys Football Academy, according to a report in Belgium.
The 19-years-old burst into the limelight playing for Bayelsa United after helping his hometown lift the Nigerian FA Cup and playing in the CAF Confederations Cup last season.
Beniangba was able to make his mark in African second-tier competitions after scoring a historic winner against Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien in the first leg of the second qualifying round despite not going past the playoff stage.
The highly-rated youngster also impressed on loan at Egyptian side Tala’ea El Gaish earlier this year where he notched scored seven times in 21 matches.
According to news outlet Nieuwsblad report that KRC Genk is keen to bring Beniangba to Luminus Arena with his fellow countryman and Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers set to depart the Blue-White for newly promoted Serie A side Cremonesese as Belgium club is expected to pocket €6.5 million from that deal.
The former Heracles Almelo forward starred in Genk’s victory over Eupen at the weekend and bade fans farewell afterward.
KRC Genk is looking for an extra center striker because coach Wouter Vrancken still has Golden Shoe winner Paul Onuachu and Hungarian U23 international Andras Nemeth.
Beniangba will initially join Genk’s youth team in the Challenger Pro League when the deal to Belgium is completed.
