Atletico Madrid humble Celta Vigo 4-1 in the La Liga encounter at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Saturday night fixture.
Diego Simone’s men took the lead in nine minutes when Thomas Lemar spread a superb crossfield pass to Nahuel Molina and he helped it on to Rodrigo de Paul whose cross was converted by Angel Correa.
De Paul’s deflected effort early in the second half doubled Atletico Madrid’s advantages before Yannick Carrasco scored a spectacular third with a run and shot at the end of a fine counter-attack but Celta Vigo would not go quietly.
Substitute Gabriel Veiga pulled a goal back for the visitors, but an own goal from Unai Nunez ended any hopes for them.
Matheus Cunha got the fourth to end the game as a contest and move Atletico Madrid up to fourth in the table.
Atletico face Bayer Leverkusen next in the Champions League on Tuesday before the capital clash at Santiago Bernabeu against city rival Real Madrid next weekend.
