Barcelona has gone back to the drawing board after the club missed out on the signing of Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta this summer.
The defender decided to change his mind against a move to Camp Nou when his terms were met by the new Chelsea owner and his decision forced Barcelona to look elsewhere for recruitment and reinforcement.
Barcelona has drawn up a list of five right-back targets as they look to bring in more players before the close of the transfer window.
Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is not pleased with his squad after their lacklustre display against Rayo Vallecano and one of the major areas he feels the squad needs reinforcement is the right back position and the club has come up with a five-man list after missing out on Azpilicueta.
The list includes Juan Foyth and Thomas Meunier, Jeremie Frimpong, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Diogo Dalot.
Villarreal valued Foyth for €25 million while Barcelona would have to pay around €10-€12m for Meunier, Xavi has called for more reinforcement and it seems the board is interested in dancing to his tune and they are ready to bring in players.
Barcelona will need to oversee departures if they must sign new players, the likes of Sergino Dest, Memphis Depay and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could leave before the end of the summer transfer window.
Depay is linked with a move to Juventus while Aubameyang is in the sight of Premier League teams with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United vying for his signature.
The Gabon international could reunite with his former boss Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge having previously worked with him at Borrusia Dortmund.
Barcelona is yet to register Jules Kounde but they are optimistic that they will get him registered before the close of the registration period.
Up next for Barcelona is the trip to San Sebastian to face Real Sociedad in their next La Liga game.
