Barcelona is open to an offer for their veteran defender Gerard Pique as the club wants an exit for the defender in January, according to report.

Pique would be out of contract at the end of the current campaign and the club is unwilling to extend their deal for the former Manchester United star.

Pique is one of the players the club is not counting on, thanks to the recent signing of Jules Kounde and Christensen from Sevilla and Chelsea respectively.

Barcelona is keen on letting go of Pique with the sole aim to balance their books considering the financial situation of the club.

Pique,35, has struggled for game time this season and the few games he played were marred by error and inconsistency in his decision-making at the backline that has caused the team some vital points.

Pique’s representatives will open talks with the Camp Nou outfit and would aim to talk to Barcelona about his future during the World Cup, to possibly settle on his contract, with his extension clause only activated if he reaches a set amount of appearances.

Barcelona will also consider moving on Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets at the end of the current campaign with Inter Milan keen on signing Alba while Busquets is eyeing a move to MLS.
